Thousands descended onto the U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday morning after days of rain and snow in the capital to hear the oral arguments in a case that could set the precedence for same-sex marriage.
The case, Hollingsworth v. Perry, challenges the constitutionality of California’s Proposition 8, which is the state’s ban on same-sex marriage.
Host Carmen Russell-Sluchansky spoke with Chris Geidner, a national political reporter for BuzzFeed, and Andy Schlafly, a constitutional attorney and founder of Conservapedia, to discuss the oral arguments of the case.
Carmen is a multimedia journalist based in Washington, DC whose work has appeared in a variety of outlets including National Geographic, NBC News, the BBC, Asia! Magazine, The China Post, Chicago Tribune and Orlando Sentinel.
