One month after the shootings in Newtown, Conn., nearly every state has held discussions on gun control and Maryland is no different. Gov. Martin O’Malley has called for greater gun restrictions in his state, joining others in a push for more background checks and prohibiting high-capacity magazines.

The Maryland governor joins other governors such as New York’s Andrew Cuomo and Colorado’s John Hickenlooper for introducing stricter gun legislation. In addition to governors, O’Malley also introduced New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, another proponent of tightening gun regulations, at a press conference in Baltimore to push for more gun control.

Host Carmen Russell-Sluchansky spoke with Anthony O’Donnell, a Republican member and minority leader in the Maryland House of Delegates, to discuss gun legislation in Maryland.
