Expert: Sanford ‘apology tour’ may make him seem more relatable

WASHINGTON — The race to replace South Carolina Congressman Tim Scott is coming to an end.

Due Diligence’s Carmen Russell-Sluchansky talked with Robert Behre, a political reporter for The Charleston Post and Courier and writer for their Political Briefing blog, to discuss Tuesday’s 1st congressional district primary.


Mark Sanford, the former governor of South Carolina, is poised to win the GOP nomination for the first district. However, he is dogged by the revelation that he had a mistress and other ethics issues that were revealed his first year as governor. Behre believes that his willingness to confront these issues during his campaign may actually help him win.
