Expert: Long-Term Political Influence of Unions to Diminish in Right-to-Work States

When Michigan passed right-to-work laws this week, it became the 24th state to do so, diminishing union’s power in collective bargaining. The act might lead to a significant decrease in union membership in the state where nearly 18 percent of the workforce belongs to a union.

However, union membership has been in decline in the U.S. for years, most precipitously since the 1980s.

Host Carmen Russell-Sluchansky talked with Ross Eisenbrey, vice president at the Economic Policy Institute, to discuss the state of labor unions in the country.
